An etched instrument panel for a model of the MiG-15 in the late form, 1:72 scale, prepared for the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MiG-15 is a Soviet single-seat jet fighter from the end of the 1940s, one of the first production machines with a swept wing. An enormous number of them were built and it was produced under license as well, so machines from the later batches differ in details from the early ones. The designation Late in the name refers precisely to the late form and concerns the equipment of the cockpit too.
These are etched metal parts of the instrument panel, intended according to the name for the Airfix kit in 1:72 scale. The metal part is incomparably thinner than the plastic molding and carries crisply rendered outlines of the instruments that cannot be molded into plastic at this scale. The list of parts and the order of assembly are given by the manufacturer's instructions. For the work, prepare a sharp blade, a firm surface and fine-tipped tweezers.
Cut the parts out of the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface; do not break them off. Sand the remainder of the tab with a fine file or a sanding sponge. Make the folds over a straight edge or in a bending tool, always in one movement; repeated folding tires the metal. It is glued with super glue, as glue for polystyrene will not join metal. Before painting, degrease the metal and spray it with a primer, otherwise the coat will not hold. The original plastic molding of the panel usually has to be sanded down first, so that the canopy settles once the etched part is stuck on.
What is supplied is the etched set on its own. The aircraft kit, paints, glue and primer are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
