A 3D-printed (resin) replacement set of armored exhaust covers from the maker Elefant in 1:35 scale. The covers fit models of the Tiger I heavy tank across its versions, from early through mid to late. This variant has a raised foundry casting number on the surface, which captures a typical detail of the real covers. The package covers two vehicles.

The real subject

The Tiger I had the exhaust pipes on the rear of the hull protected by armored covers against damage and splinters. The real castings often carried a raised foundry number on the surface, and it is exactly that small point which this variant reproduces faithfully and by which it differs from the version without a number.

Use and tips

• Cut the parts from the print supports and clean them up with respiratory protection.
• Clean off any residue before gluing.
• They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate).
• Bring the casting number out with a dry brush so that it shows under the paint.
