The YPB-015, the general-purpose 0.15 mm width

A scribing tool of tungsten steel whose track measures 0.15 mm. That value tends to be the most used on aircraft models in the medium scales, because the resulting line is clearly visible and yet does not look like a gash. Anyone buying their first tool for a collection usually reaches for it and only then adds finer or coarser sizes as experience dictates.

A general-purpose tool for most of the work

The width will be appreciated by builders who need a single tool for restoring gaps after sanding, for deepening shallowly molded division and for adding missing parting lines. The track goes well with thin paints for picking out detail, and once dry it holds a sharp edge without flowing out onto the surface.

How to achieve a straight line

• Make the first pass almost without pressure, just to mark the path.
• Only the second and third strokes deepen the line to the degree needed.
• Scribe rounded surfaces in shorter sections, not in one sweep.
• Clear the dust out of the finished groove before you apply any paint.
• Peel the tape off right after scribing so that debris does not dry under it.

Features of the tool

The surface of the WING series is mirror-finished, which noticeably reduces the risk of the tip jumping out of the track into the surrounding plastic. The tool will work polystyrene, ABS, hard resin and 3D prints. Clamping is provided by a shank of 3.175 mm diameter; the holder is a separate item and is chosen according to the size of the hand.
