The real subject

The German Tiger I heavy tank was powered by a Maybach HL 230 engine, and its exhaust gases were carried away by two vertical mufflers on the rear plate of the vehicle. The mufflers are among the most conspicuous items on the rear, are visible from every angle and in period photographs tend to be sooted and rusted. On late vehicles the form of the mufflers and of their protective covers differed from the earlier machines, which is why this part is so often replaced on models of the Tiger I.

What the set contains

The set brings exhaust mufflers in the form matching late vehicles, in 1:35 scale. The contents are reckoned for two vehicles, so they are enough for two models or leave a spare in case a part is damaged during the build. The manufacturer intended the set for Dragon kits.

Building and painting tips

The parts are not made of polystyrene; they are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the surplus material and the traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder back carefully, so that the cylindrical shape is preserved. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. They stand out best when you add shades of rust and soot to the base color and flatten the surface at the end. Try a part dry before gluing it in, so that it sits against the covers and the rear plate.
