The U-STAR set of sanding files for detail holds two pieces - one in 800 grit and one in 1200 grit - for cleaning up small spots on a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A pair of sanding files intended for the stage when a model is being brought to a finish. A large sanding block will handle broad surfaces, but in small spots - around the canopy, along the panel lines, on the edges of small parts - you need a tool that reaches in there and still does not take off more than it should. The set has two grades of grit: 800 and 1200.
Typical uses
Work through the grades - the coarser 800 grit first, then the finer 1200 grit; in the reverse order the finer grade would only polish the scratches left by the coarser one. Work in short strokes and press only lightly; on small parts the material comes off surprisingly fast. Wipe the part down as you go and look at it against the light, as dust can hide the scratches. Wet sanding on plastic reduces clogging of the abrasive. On resin and photo-etched parts proceed even more carefully, as the material behaves differently from kit plastic.
The dimensions of the files, the material and the way the abrasive is held are given on the packaging of the set.
