The set Eduard 1:200 international signal flags STEEL holds color-printed steel photo-etched parts from which you will make hanging signal flags on a ship model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory for ship models, not a kit. The set is worked in the STEEL technology, that is from thin stainless steel sheet with a color print. Steel is springier than brass and holds its shape better after bending, so a flag on a model looks as though it were really curving in the wind. The parts are not painted, as the motif is printed from the factory. The maker is the Czech firm Eduard, which has been devoted to photo-etched parts for decades.
The International Code of Signals assigns to every letter of the alphabet and every numeral a flag of its own with a bold geometric design. Ships pass messages with them about their state, their intention or a request, on their own as well as in combinations hoisted on signal masts. It is precisely a colorful row of flags above the superstructure that gives a ship model scale and life, because it draws the eye to the masts, which otherwise tend to be empty.
Separate the parts with a scalpel against a hard surface and sand the edge gently. First bend the flag slightly with tweezers or wind it around a round object, so that a natural wave comes about, and only then set it in place. For gluing, use a small amount of super glue that does not cause clouding, or a dispersion glue for photo-etched details. A signal halyard is imitated by drawn monofilament or a thin thread, colored in advance. Protect the printed areas from thinners, and apply a matte overcoat only as a light mist.
The set is an accessory for a ship model. Glue, threads and the kit itself are not included in the package.
