Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of self-adhesive masks from Artwox Model for spraying the deck surfaces of a model of the Japanese battleship Mikasa. It is not a kit or a finished model but an accessory. The set is cut for one specific release, the Hobby Boss 82002 kit.
Mikasa has appeared as a plastic kit in 1:200 scale from several manufacturers, and Artwox makes masking sets for several of them. They look similar, but they are not interchangeable: every kit has the deck laid out differently, the feet of the superstructure in different places and the hatches done differently. This set is intended for the Hobby Boss 82002 kit, so check before you order that this is the one you are building. It is the single step that decides whether the masks will fit.
Sand the plastic deck, remove the flash and degrease the surface: on greasy plastic the masks hold badly and the paint pulls into beads. Apply the base color in thin coats and let it cure properly, and only then stick the masks on. While spraying, hold the airbrush at right angles to the surface and do not aim at the edge of the mask at a sharp angle, or the paint will creep under. Once the masks come off it is time for the weathering: a very thinned dark wash runs into the engraved seams between the planks and gives the deck a depth that paint alone cannot. Finally comes the matte varnish, which unifies the surface and fixes the wash.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
