The KC-46A Pegasus in Japan Air Self-Defense Force service is an injection-molded plastic kit in 1:200 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. It captures the modern tanker and transport aircraft in the form of one of the Japanese squadrons.

This kit in 1:200 scale suits collections of large transport machines, which in a more usual scale would take up too much room. This box is devoted to the KC-46A Pegasus tanker aircraft in the form of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. Hasegawa maintains a range of large aircraft in this scale, and the KC-46A fits into it as one of the newest types.
The KC-46A Pegasus is a tanker and transport aircraft derived from the Boeing 767 airliner. It combines a rigid refueling boom with hose-and-drogue units, so it can refuel machines with either type of receiving system. Besides refueling it also serves to carry cargo and personnel. Japan is among the foreign operators of the type and brought it into service in recent years, where it replaces older tanker capacity. Its characteristic features are the twin turbofan powerplant and the wide fuselage of an airliner.
In 1:200 scale every gap counts, because the large smooth surfaces of the fuselage will reveal every imperfection. Glue the fuselage with thin cement for plastic, fill the joints and sand them back with progressively finer paper. Light and metallic finishes call for a perfectly smooth base, so polish the surface before spraying. Mask the clear parts and the windows, or handle them with a decal if the box allows it. Apply the decals to gloss varnish and use a softener, or they will not bed down onto the curve of the fuselage. Fit the landing gear legs and the small antennas last.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
