DOUBLE FANGJOKER

Double FangJoker - a character kit from Bandai

A kit from the Japanese maker Bandai with the name Double FangJoker. It is a model of a character, not of equipment: you assemble a standing figure from pre-colored plastic parts that are clipped off the sprues and join by clipping together. Neither glue nor spraying equipment is needed. The scale is not given in the name; the number of parts, the height of the finished figure and the contents of the package are stated on the packaging.

On the name and the real subject

The name combines the name of the character Double with the designation of the form, FangJoker. Anyone who knows the subject will recognize it from the name; anyone who is only after the model gets a well worked figure in colored plastic that can be built without modeling equipment.

Tips for building and finishing

Clip the parts off the sprue with nippers that have one flat blade and then even the sprue nub out with a sharp knife or a very fine file. With pre-colored plastic that matters, because breaking a part off roughly leaves a white burr that is visible on a colored part. The engraved lines and panel lines are brought out by a liquid paneliner, which soaks into the engraving by capillary action and whose excess is wiped away. A matte or satin varnish in a spray can unifies the finished model and at the same time suppresses the sheen of bare plastic. Anyone who wants to go further can spray the parts with their own paint before assembly, but it is not necessary.

Who the kit is for

• for collectors of figures from the Japanese production of Bandai
• for beginners, because the build calls for neither glue nor paints
• for modelers who want to finish a figure off with a paneliner and a matte varnish
• as a gift for fans of the subject

The parts are pre-colored and join by clipping together, so no glue is needed for the build. Paints, a paneliner and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
