A plastic kit from the maker AFV Club in 1:35 scale. The set contains a newly made barrel of 175 millimeter caliber and ammunition, a simply equipped driver's station with the option of building the hatch open or closed and markings for several users. The key mechanisms are movable as well: the loading device with a movable loading tray, the elevation mechanism and the rear recoil spade with its hydraulics.
The M107 is an American self-propelled gun of the beginning of the 1960s, built on a common tracked chassis which served other heavy artillery types as well. It came into being as a light and transportable weapon of long reach — the whole machine was designed so that a large transport aircraft could carry it. The gun is mounted completely in the open, the crew works without armor protection and part of the crew travels in a separate vehicle. The M107 served in the American army and with a number of other users, and later a large part of these machines was rebuilt into the version of 203 millimeter caliber.
Finish and paint the running gear and the lower hull before you fit the upper parts — once assembled, the rollers are hard to reach. The open design means that practically everything is visible, so it pays to give time to the loading device and the gun mount. After the base color apply a gloss clear under the decals and then a dark wash to emphasize the details. Dust and mud pigments suit the running gear and the lower areas, and with artillery the barrel tends to be stained with smoke — a light film of dark pigment at the muzzle is believable.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
