1:35 gun mantlet with a 17-pounder barrel for the Achilles tank destroyer is a replacement part from PANZER ART. It replaces both the plastic mantlet and the barrel on a model and gives the vehicle the correct appearance of a British rearmed M10.

The set from PANZER ART is an accessory, not a kit of the vehicle. It is fitted onto a model of the British Achilles tank destroyer in 1:35 scale and replaces the gun mantlet together with the barrel. Against the plastic part, the turned barrel is perfectly straight and round, has the muzzle drilled out, and gluing two halves together and the subsequent sanding down of the mold parting line, which with long slim barrels tends to be the most tiresome part of the build, both fall away.
The Achilles arose as a British modification of the American M10 tank destroyer. The original 76.2 mm M7 gun was replaced by the British 17-pounder gun, that is an antitank weapon with a markedly higher muzzle velocity, which the British also fitted into the Sherman Firefly. The rearming was apparent at first sight: the barrel is substantially longer and carries a muzzle brake, and a counterweight was added to the mantlet so that the open turret would stay balanced. The vehicles served with British and Allied units in the closing phase of the Second World War and in the postwar years.
Try the seating of the mantlet dry first, and only then glue. Use cyanoacrylate; ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on other materials. Spray the whole part with primer before painting. Glue the long barrel on only at the end of the build, so that it is not bent while the model is handled, and protect it while painting, so that the muzzle does not get clogged with paint. The open roof of the Achilles turret invites finishing the interior, so reckon with the mantlet being visible from the inside too.
