A set of resin road wheels for the Soviet GAZ-AA truck in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the vehicle but an accessory with which the wheels in the base model are exchanged for more accurate castings. This is the variant with tires from the Yaroslavl plant; the manufacturer also makes a version with tires from the Omsk plant, so you can choose according to the subject you are building.
The GAZ-AA was a light truck with a one-and-a-half-ton load capacity, produced in the Soviet Union under American license. In the 1930s and 1940s it was among the most widespread vehicles of its class, served in civilian and in military use and became the chassis basis for a range of further conversions. At that time the tires were supplied from several plants and their look and tread pattern differed, which on a model is one of the most conspicuous distinguishing details.
Wash the parts first in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent, so that the remains of the mold release agent are removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter and level the surface with abrasive paper; protect your airways while sanding resin. They are glued with cyanoacrylate, since ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Apply a primer before painting. The tread pattern then stands out with a very dry brush and with pigments, and dust and mud effects on wheels are among the most rewarding parts of weathering.
