1:48 ammunition belt box for the Goryunov machine gun is a small modeling accessory. It adds a period-correct piece of equipment to figures, vehicle interiors and dioramas.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory for a scene, not a kit. In 1:48 scale a small thing like this is big enough for the viewer to notice and small enough to be placed in greater numbers without swamping the scene. You can set the box down beside a machine gun crew, stack it in a cargo bed, fix it to the side of a vehicle or leave it open at a firing position. It is exactly the open ones that give a diorama the feeling of a story in progress.
The Soviet SG-43 Goryunov was an air-cooled heavy machine gun that during the Second World War replaced the older water-cooled Maxim. It fired from a canvas and later a metal ammunition belt, and that belt was carried and stored in exactly these sheet metal boxes of a characteristic angular shape with a hinged lid and a carrying handle. The boxes were used by infantry units and with machine guns built into armored vehicles.
Clean the part of production residue and bond it with super glue, because ordinary plastic cement does not hold on other materials. Use a primer before painting. The base is a dark green Soviet shade, on which wear along the edges shows up well: a silvery or dark steel pigment dragged dry across the corners and around the handle turns the box into an object someone really carried. Add a thin wash in the gaps of the lid and a light dust to match the terrain of the scene.
