Rays is a Japanese firm that makes light wheels, whose name is associated in the community mainly with the circuit and drift world. The brand runs several design lines, and the designation G025 belongs among the newer patterns with a deeply dished face, which visually draws attention to the outer lip. Wheels of this type appear on modern Japanese coupes and sedans, often in combination with low-profile rubber and a lowered chassis. For a modeler what is interesting above all is the sculptural surface of the face, on which work with light and shadow works well.
A deep face calls for painting in two stages. First apply the base shade to the whole part, then mask the lip over and fill it in with a different color or a metallic sheen. Darken the inner surfaces between the spokes, so that the depth of the dish stands out. An airbrush does a better job here than a brush, because on the smooth surfaces of a rim brush strokes would be very visible. Finally you can suggest the look of the nuts around the circumference with a small detail.
