This is a set of photo-etched parts for a car model in 1:24 scale with the Aston Martin as its real subject, tied to Tamiya kits. Photo-etch makes it possible to render thin shapes that injection-molded plastic manages only in exaggerated thickness, and a model thus comes across more faithfully, especially in places in view.
The elements are held on the carrier fret by thin tabs. Separate them with a sharp blade on a hard mat, not by breaking them out, as the part will otherwise warp. Make the bends along the grooves indicated, best of all in a photo-etch bender or between the jaws of flat tweezers. Photo-etch does not hold with polystyrene glue: use super glue, and two-part glue on larger areas. Degrease the surface before painting and apply a primer, as the paint will otherwise not hold on the smooth metal.
The set is for modelers who have already worked with photo-etch or want to try it out and have a sharp blade, tweezers and patience to hand. The work is slower than with plastic parts, but the result is recognized at once.
