In the second half of the 1970s the second generation Escort was the most widespread competition car in Europe. Alongside the works machines, hundreds of these coupes raced with private teams, who built the car from available parts and completed it with sponsors of their own. The Portuguese calendar of the time offered events on gravel and on tarmac, that is exactly the setting in which a light rear-wheel-drive car with good traction proved extraordinarily capable. Cars from these events tend to be a less usual choice among modelers than the works specials.
Soak the motif in clean lukewarm water and watch for the moment when the film begins to move freely on the backing – do not take it off any sooner. Transfer it onto the model together with the paper and then slide the paper out from under the motif. As long as there is water under the film, the position can still be adjusted; once it has been pressed out, moving it risks a tear.
