A set of spraying stencils for the glazing and national insignia of the Hawker Hurricane Mk I of the summer of 1940 in the large 1:24 scale. The cockpit is masked from the outside and the inside, and a supplementary sheet of decals is enclosed.
Responsibility details are not available.
During the Battle of Britain the Hawker Hurricane was the most numerous machine of Fighter Command and it was credited with more aerial victories than all the other British types together. In construction it still stood with one foot in the 1930s: a truss frame of steel tubes in the fuselage, a rear section covered with fabric and a thick wing that gave the machine calm in a turn but took away its speed. It was that durable structure that made it an aircraft whose damage could be repaired at a field airfield in a single night.
For the builder the glazing is decisive. The canopy has dense framing, the individual pillars converge at different angles and above the pilot's head the plexiglass runs out into a perceptible bulge. Protecting it by hand with adhesive tape takes hours here and it is still usually visible after spraying where the hand wavered.
The package carries a pair of stencils for the cockpit, separately for the view from outside and separately for the inner side, so the frames come out equally sharp from both views. With them are five parts for the national insignia and in addition a small sheet of decals for the markings that cannot be sprayed.
Apply the stencils to degreased and dry glazing and press from the center toward the edge. Apply the paint in several light coats; a heavy coat will run under the edge. The kit of the aircraft is obtained separately.
