1:24 McLaren MP4-12C GT3

The real subject

The McLaren MP4-12C GT3 is the circuit version of the MP4-12C coupe, built for the GT3 category of endurance and sprint racing. Against the road car it has a reinforcing frame, wider aerodynamic elements, a large rear wing and a racing interior; the engine stayed set in the middle, between the cabin and the rear axle.

What the sheet brings to a model

On circuit cars it is the markings that carry most of the look. A printed sheet in 1:24 scale manages fine lettering, starting numbers and small markings the way a brush could not paint them, and rounds a model out with motifs that are missing from a basic kit or have not survived in it in a usable state. Which particular motifs the sheet carries and how many versions of the markings it allows is given by the manufacturer's instructions.

How to apply the decals

• First level the area under the motif and overcoat it with gloss varnish.
• Before applying, check in the instructions whether these are wet decals or self-adhesive items.
• Lay large areas down in parts and push the air out from under the film with a soft cloth from the center toward the edges.
• Over the dried motifs apply a covering varnish, so that the edges of the film disappear.
• Store the unused parts of the sheet dry and in the dark, otherwise the print fades.

Who it is for

The sheet will be appreciated by builders of GT3 circuit cars who want to take a model to a particular form, and by modelers whose original decals in a kit have fallen apart with age. A model, paints and varnish are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
