An injection-molded plastic kit of the Nakajima A6M2-N Rufe in 1:24 scale from Trumpeter - the Japanese floatplane fighter version of the famous Zero.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese Nakajima A6M2-N floatplane fighter in the large 1:24 scale from Trumpeter. Rufe is the Allied code name by which the Americans designated this type. The large scale stands out above all on the massive central float and its struts, on the detailed cockpit and on the engine. The exact contents of the box and the number of marking options are not stated here.
The A6M2-N came about by converting the A6M2 Zero carrier fighter into a floatplane. It was one of the first types designed directly as a floatplane fighter. A large central float and two auxiliary floats under the wings replaced the fixed landing gear; compared with the land-based version the aircraft was slower but surprisingly agile. The Imperial Japanese Navy deployed it above all from forward bases in the Pacific where no airfields were available.
Paint the cockpit and the engine before closing the fuselage. Once finished, the model is prone to tipping back onto its tail - it is worth adding weight into the nose of the float before gluing it together. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic, mask the clear glazing and apply the paints with an airbrush; bring out the panel lines with a wash. With its large sets Trumpeter often supplies rubber tires and small photo-etched parts to refine the detail; the tires can be replaced with resin ones for a more accurate shape.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
