The Nissan Y31 Cima Type II Limited in 1:24 scale is a plastic kit of a Japanese luxury limousine of 1990 from the The Model Car range of the Japanese company Aoshima.

An injection-molded plastic kit of the four-door Nissan Cima hardtop of the Y31 series in the Type II Limited trim level, the version for the 1990 model year. The kit came out in Aoshima's The Model Car range. According to the manufacturer the model can be built in the Cedric Cima as well as the Gloria Cima variant and a choice can be made between the Type II-S and Type II versions, or between the earlier and the later version of the body. Included are a faithfully reproduced engine and a painting mask for the window surrounds.
The Cima was the highest model that Nissan offered under the names Cedric and Gloria at the time of the Japanese bubble economy. The Y31 series was introduced in 1988 as a low four-door hardtop without window frames, with rich equipment and the turbocharged VG30DET six-cylinder of three liters. The car sold in such unexpected quantities that a term of its own took hold in Japan for the phenomenon. Today the Y31 Cima is an icon of the Japanese luxury scene of the turn of the 1980s and 1990s and, together with the related Cedric and Gloria sedans, ranks among the classic so-called hi-so cars.
A hardtop without window frames puts high demands on the cleanliness of the glass, so the enclosed painting mask and a cement intended for clear plastic come in handy. A deep gloss or a fine metallic suits the body of these cars: spray filler primer, wet-sand, apply two to three thin coats of paint and finish with gloss varnish, which can be polished once it has cured. The engine deserves separate attention, because it is reproduced in the kit, and it pays to accentuate it with a dark glaze in the recesses. You can manage the chrome trim around the windows with masking tape or polished silver paint.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
