Speed Racer The Mach 5 in 1:24 scale is a richly equipped plastic kit of the legendary racing car from the Japanese animated series, issued by Aoshima.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the white Mach 5 racing special made famous by the Japanese animated series known in Europe and America under the name Speed Racer. The kit comes from the Japanese company Aoshima and in this form reproduces all seven of the car's famous special functions: lifting jacks, belt attachments for the wheels, a cutting arm in the front part, a protective shield for the cockpit, night vision, a breathing system for driving under the surface and a released auxiliary device. According to the manufacturer the hood opens with a reproduced engine, and the model can be built in ordinary road configuration or in underwater mode.
The Mach 5 is an invented car, not a production automobile. It appeared in a Japanese animated series of the second half of the 1960s and became one of the most recognizable fictional racing designs of all: a white teardrop body, a large red letter on the hood, rounded windshields and a set of secret devices operated by buttons on the steering wheel. The seven functions the car used in the series gave rise to a whole generation of fans, and the Mach 5 is still among the most frequently modeled subjects of Japanese animated pop culture.
A white body is the most demanding shade from a painting point of view, because it shows through and reveals every joint. Work through a white filler primer, wet sanding and several very thin coats, and only then gloss varnish. Leave the chrome-plated and clear parts until the end and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue or with cement for clear plastic. Bend the photo-etched parts on a metal edge and clean them of grease before gluing. Lay the decals on a gloss surface and finish with matte or satin varnish according to the look you want.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
