Replacement wheels for the model of the Supermarine Spitfire in 1:24 scale: a smooth tread, covered hubs and tires shaped as weighted by the weight of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Supermarine Spitfire is the best known British fighter of the Second World War and one of the few machines that served from the first to the last day of the fighting in Europe. The main landing gear retracted from the fuselage outward into the wing. During service the wheels were supplied in several versions, differing in the tread pattern and in the shape of the hub, and it is by them that a build can be pinned down in time and type. This set corresponds to the smooth tread and the covered hub.
Replacement wheels for 1:24 scale with tires shaped the way they sag under the weight of a standing aircraft. In this large scale the wheel is a part that cannot be overlooked, on which even small things such as the transition from the tread into the side of the tire are visible. How many parts the set contains and how they are put together is described in the manufacturer's instructions supplied with it.
The flattening of the tire points toward the ground, so turn the wheel with the flat area down while gluing and check it before the glue sets. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down. The parts are not made of polystyrene and plastic cement does not work on them; use cyanoacrylate glue. Before painting, wash and degrease the wheels. Do not make the tire black, as a dark gray shade looks truer even in a large scale, and set the hub apart separately.
The set suits a modeler who is building a large Spitfire and wants the model to stand convincingly on its base, not as if on balloons. The work is quick and the result is visible at first sight. Unless stated otherwise, the kit, paints and glue are not included.
