The Tohge GX61 Chaser Avante Twincam 24 set in 1:24 scale offers a Japanese sedan with a twin-cam six from the early 1980s.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the Chaser sedan with the GX61 body in Avante trim and with the engineering designated Twincam 24. The word Tohge in the name comes from Japanese and means a mountain pass; the manufacturer used it to name one of its model lines devoted to cars associated with driving on winding roads.
Together with its related sedans the Chaser formed a trio of cars built on a common basis, which differed mainly in looks and in tuning. The Avante version was one of the better-equipped ones, and combined with a six-cylinder engine with twin camshafts and twenty-four valves it produced a car that could be driven harder than the angular body would suggest. A longitudinally mounted engine and a driven rear axle later made it a popular basis for conversions.
Building an angular sedan is not difficult in itself, but the result stands or falls on the sharpness of the edges. So it is worth sanding only minimally and preferably in the direction of the lines. The chrome window frames need a steady hand or a thin foil. Fit the wheels and tires right at the end, so that they do not get in the way when painting the underside.
The kit is sold unassembled; you will reach the finished look only through painting it yourself.
