The Typhoon of Mark I b in the large scale with a richer offering of markings. The films cover the glazing from both sides, and five insignia masks and a sheet of decals are enclosed.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the summer of 1944 the Typhoons became the instrument with which the columns in Normandy were broken up. Under the wing they carried eight unguided rockets or bombs, they attacked from low level and their pilots were often directed straight from the ground units. In photographs from those weeks you can recognize the machines by the broad black and white stripes around the fuselage and the wings, which were meant to prevent confusion with the enemy. Markings like that are a challenge on a model, because they run across a rounded fuselage and have to line up.
When the unmasking is done, the sheen remains to be unified. The edge between a sprayed area and its surroundings stays palpable and a new matte or satin varnish levels it optically. Spray it in two thin coats over the whole part including the frames, never only on the place where the mask was, or a patch with a different sheen will appear. Leave the inner film on the glass during this step too and remove it as the very last act of the build. The glass then comes out of the whole job clean and free of dust.
Masks for the glazing from both sides, five masks for the national insignia and decals. A higher number of insignia masks gives room to carry the markings out completely, that is not only on the sides but on the flying surfaces above and below. On a model of this size that shows, because an empty lower surface of a wing looks unfinished as soon as the model is stood on a base.
