StuG III, a set of late version A drive sprockets in 1:35 scale by T-Rex Studio, cut for the Dragon kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of replacement drive sprockets for a model of the StuG III assault gun in 1:35 scale. T-Rex Studio supplies it in a version for the Dragon kit, and the version for Tamiya is a separate item. The designation A sets this set apart from late version B, which the manufacturer carries alongside it as another separate item.
The Pz.Kpfw III chassis the StuG III is based on went through a series of small changes during production, and the drive sprocket was among the parts that changed most often. The late form differs from the early one in the shape of the spokes and the solution of the hub. For a modeler that means one thing only: a sprocket is chosen by which machine and which period is being built, not by what was in the box. Since T-Rex Studio offers the late sprocket in two versions, A and B, it pays to compare a period photograph of the real subject before buying.
Fit the sprocket dry and check that the track runs straight between the drive sprocket and the idler wheel. Clean the mating surface up fully, otherwise the sprocket sits askew. Choose liquid cement for plastic parts or cyanoacrylate for resin, according to the material. In painting it makes sense to finish the sprocket before the track and the side skirts go on, because the underside of the model is hard to reach afterward. At the end add dust and dried mud with pigments, and let the metal show through on the teeth.
