In the middle of the 1960s the Ford Fairlane was an American mid-size car, that is, an ordinary family sedan. The version with the 427 engine of 1966 is something quite different, though: it was a lightened series built for quarter-mile racing. The number 427 gives the displacement of the V8 in cubic inches, which corresponds to roughly 7 liters. So that the bulky engine would fit into the front and so that the car would weigh as little as possible, it was given a fiberglass lift-off hood with a bold air scoop. Only a few cars of this version were built and today they are among the sought-after pieces of American racing history.
It is a plastic kit in 1:25 scale, which American car models have stuck to for decades. Once assembled, the model measures roughly 20 centimeters. A list of the parts, the options of version and the extent of the markings enclosed are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
With a model car the body is the main thing on view, and it therefore deserves the most work. Sand the joints carefully and smooth the surface while it is still bare; every fine line will stand out under a gloss finish. Apply the paint in several light coats and let them flash off. Before applying the markings, varnish the surface to a gloss, or a light haze will appear around the edges. Paint and assemble the engine bay and the interior before you close the body up.
The paints, the glue and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
