Great Dane is one of the American trailer makers, and its refrigerated range is its best-known chapter. The trailer has an insulated box and, at the front above the headboard, a refrigeration unit that holds the temperature during food deliveries. A length of 40 feet corresponds to roughly 12.2 meters, so a model in 1:25 scale measures about half a meter once built and will ask for its own room in a display cabinet.

The range of parts, the treatment of the running gear and the marking options are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer. The trailer is built into a rig with a tractor in the same scale, although on its own it also stands up as a separate object or as part of a loading dock scene.
The large flat sides of the box are the most demanding thing about this kind of model: every unevenness and every fingerprint shows through the paint, so sand the surfaces carefully and degrease them before painting. Apply the base shade in several light coats and let them dry thoroughly, and only then add the lettering and the markings. The running gear, the axles and the fenders take heavy soiling well, whereas the box tends to be kept clean, so keep the contrast between the underside and the side of the vehicle.
