A liquid filter from the Metal Filters line in a red interference form. A filter is not a wash: it does not run into engraved lines and does not draw shadows, but is applied in a thin coat over a whole surface and shifts its overall tone. An interference shade, besides, is not fully opaque. Depending on the angle of view and the incident light, the red cast alternates with the color of the base, so the surface reads as alive and changes as the model is turned.
Where it suits
A red cast over metal suggests itself on hot exhausts and barrels, on the first signs of rust, on old copper and bronze, but also on saturated finishes of motorcycles and cars or on fantasy armor where metal is meant to read more dramatically.
For modelers who are refining a finished surface and want to proceed more gently than with an opaque paint. It finds a use on military vehicles, aircraft, cars and figures. Anyone who needs several shades of the line at once can reach for its complete set.
