A dipping ink from the Green Stuff World brand in a 60 ml package. The name suggests that this is not a saturated violet but a cast - a shade that gives a surface a fine color undertone and at the same time deepens its relief. It is applied generously over the whole part, not line by line.
One pass with the ink lays the base: a generous dose runs down off the raised places and gathers in the recesses, so a darker tone arises there. If the result seems too inconspicuous to you, repeat the whole procedure. Every further dipping adds a further amount into the recesses and the difference between peaks and depths deepens, while the peaks stay relatively clean - the excess is taken off them every time. You therefore have a continuous scale in hand, from a barely perceptible cast to a pronounced contrast, without changing product. A wash does not have this property, because from the start it is placed only where you want it.
For modelers who want control over the strength of the shadow and would rather reach the result step by step than with a single decision. Suitable also where the shadow is to be colored rather than merely dark.
