1:72 Steyr 1500 Wooden Cab Low-side Truck is an injection-molded plastic kit of the German truck with the late wooden cab and low sides from the manufacturer SabreKits.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Steyr 1500 truck in its late austerity form: with a substitute wooden cab in place of the sheet-metal one and with a flatbed body with low sides. The model in 1:72 from the SabreKits brand holds transparent parts and decals besides the plastic sprues.
The Steyr 1500 was an Austrian truck in the class of around a ton and a half, powered by an air-cooled eight-cylinder engine. It came about as a standardized military vehicle and was built in large numbers in many forms, from command and ambulance versions through radio vehicles to plain flatbeds. Its air-cooled engine was an advantage on the Eastern Front, where coolant froze in the cold. In the last years of the war a shortage of sheet metal forced the manufacturer to replace the pressed cab with a simpler structure of wooden frames and plywood. It was exactly such trucks that served in the closing battles, and they are a rewarding real subject because they differ markedly from the commonly built early versions.
The wooden cab deserves special care: suggest the wood with a base in an ocher shade, draw fine grain over it with oil paint and only then lay on a semi-transparent covering coat so that the texture shows through. Glue the glazing in only after the base color has been sprayed. Late vehicles carried a dark yellow base, often only roughly sprayed over the remains of an older coat. At the end add mud effects on the wheels and dust on the bed.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
