This is not a kit but a mask set for a model of the British Fairey Gannet carrier aircraft in the AS.1 and AS.4 versions in 1:48 scale from the Czech firm Eduard. The marking TFace is the maker's abbreviation for the version that deals with both sides of the glazing, the outer and the inner one. On the Gannet this is especially useful: the cockpit is long, divided into three parts, and the inside is clearly visible through the large glazed areas. The manufacturer keeps the simpler version for the outside alone as a separate item.
The Fairey Gannet was a British carrier-based anti-submarine aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm. It first flew at the close of the 1940s, entered service in the middle of the 1950s and was powered by the Armstrong Siddeley Double Mamba turboprop unit, a pair of engines coupled into one installation, which turned contra-rotating propellers. The crew could shut one half of the powerplant down in flight and so stay over a patrol area considerably longer. A search radar radome extended below the fuselage, three members of the crew sat in separate compartments one behind the other, and the wing folded twice over for stowage on deck. The AS.1 was the first production version, and the AS.4 was given a more powerful powerplant.
The inner masks are placed while the cockpit is still open, the outer ones only before the opaque paint is sprayed. The surface should be clean and degreased and the edges carefully pressed down, so that no paint runs under them.
