Grumman TBM-3 Avenger LooK is an Eduard detail set in 1:48 scale. It contains a pre-painted instrument panel and photo-etched steel seat belts that replace the plastic cockpit parts.

This is not an aircraft kit but an add-on set for raising the detail of the cockpit. The LooK range joins the two things that help a cockpit most: a finished color instrument panel with rendered dial faces and glossy instrument glass, and photo-etched steel seat belts that can be shaped faithfully and draped over the edge of the seat. The parts go in place of the corresponding plastic parts and are ready to use, so laborious hand painting of dial faces is avoided.
The Grumman TBM-3 Avenger was a carrier-based torpedo bomber of the US Navy in the Second World War. The TBM designation was carried by aircraft built by the Eastern Aircraft automotive division to the Grumman design, because the parent factory had switched to building fighters. The Avenger was unusually large for a carrier aircraft, with an internal bomb bay for a torpedo or bombs, a dorsal gun turret and a crew of three. The TBM-3 version received a more powerful powerplant and a strengthened wing able to carry unguided rockets, so besides anti-shipping work it was also used for attacks on ground targets and for anti-submarine patrols.
First sand the plastic instrument panel part flat so that the new panel seats with no gap. Glue it in spots with super glue or with a glue for photo-etched parts; a solvent cement for plastic makes no sense here. Before shaping the steel belts, anneal them only very briefly or shape them directly with tweezers, as steel holds a bend well. The belts look best when you let them drape naturally rather than straightening them flat. Flatten the seat and its surroundings so that the glossy instrument glass stands out.
The set contains add-on parts only. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
