1:72 T35E1 Gun Motor Carriage is a plastic kit of the American tank destroyer prototype from UM.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American prototype of a self-propelled anti-tank gun. The model captures the open, fully rotating turret with a three-inch gun set on a chassis derived from the M4A2 medium tank. Besides the plastic parts the set holds a photo-etched fret and link-and-length tracks, that is a combination of individual links and longer straight runs.
The T35E1 came out of the American search for a mobile tank destroyer at the start of the Second World War. The designers started from the proven Sherman chassis, lowered the hull and added an open rotating turret, so that the vehicle would gain all-round traverse while staying lighter and faster than a conventional tank. It was precisely this branch of development that led to the series-built M10 tank destroyer, which then became one of the main American anti-tank weapons. The T35E1 itself remained at the stage of test vehicles.
Assemble the track in runs on a flat surface and let them set before you shape them over the wheels. The open turret means the inside will be visible, so paint the inner surfaces and the gun breech before you close the assembly up. In a small scale it pays to highlight the upper surfaces and conversely to darken the places under the superstructure; the contrast then makes the model look larger.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
