The 1:16 Notek lights accessory set from Firma49 brings a replica of the German blackout lights for models of Second World War vehicles.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set in 1:16 scale that captures the German blackout and convoy lights used during the Second World War. It is not a vehicle kit but a small accessory meant to be fitted to a model that is already built or under construction. Firma49 carries the same element in several scales at once, so the same equipment can be used across a collection; 1:16 is the largest of them and the detail shows best there.
Notek is the established designation for the blackout headlight of German military vehicles. Its job was to light only a narrow strip of road just ahead of the vehicle, so that a column could drive at night without being seen from above or from a distance. The rear convoy light served the same purpose, telling the driver behind how much distance he was keeping. The lights appear on practically every German vehicle of the period, from motorcycles to heavy tanks, and belong among the details that place a model in the right era at once.
Separate the parts carefully and clean them up, then dry-fit the assembly first. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) applied in a minimal amount so it does not run into the fine shapes. Degrease the surface before painting and apply a thin primer. In 1:16 scale it pays off to give the lens and the shade different shades and to add a light highlight to the surrounding area so the shape does not stay flat.
