The Albatros D.V in 1:32 with a laser cut is an accessory item from HGW for modelers who want to give a large German biplane the last layer of detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
Unlike its sister items, this one aims at one version only, namely the earlier D.V. According to the name the elements are prepared by a laser cut, so a precise outline awaits you, which only needs releasing and carrying over. A model of the aircraft is not included; this is exclusively a finishing accessory.
The D.V came to the combat units in the spring of 1917 as an attempt to improve the very successful D.III type. The designers slimmed the fuselage, reworked the shape of the upper surface and lowered the weight, but the expected leap in performance did not come. The pilots complained that they were gradually losing their superiority over contemporary opponents from England and France, and above all that the lower wing with its single spar would not bear sharp maneuvers. Even so the type stayed in service until the last months of the conflict and became one of the most frequently photographed machines of that time.
The most work is given by the transition over the cylindrical part of the fuselage. Proceed in smaller sections, polish the area in advance and take a pause between the individual steps, so that everything dries properly. Only when the surface is completely dry does the final adjustment of the sheen come into play.
Information beyond the name, that is beyond the scale, the version and the laser cut, is deliberately not added here.
