A set of resin Mk.VIII reflector sights in 1:32 scale from the maker Quickboost. It is a precisely cast replacement for the onboard sight in the cockpits of Allied and American fighters of the Second World War, not a stand-alone aircraft model. The detail part replaces the simplified sight from a base kit.
The Mk.VIII reflector sight was used in a whole range of Allied fighters in the Second World War. Besides British machines it also appeared on American fighters flown by the RAF and the USAAF, for example the P-47 Thunderbolt and the carrier-based F4U Corsair and F4F Wildcat. The sight projected an illuminated aiming pattern onto an angled reflector glass in front of the pilot.
Resin parts call for more careful work: wash them to remove mold release residue, separate them from the casting block carefully and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways while sanding. Apply primer before painting, leave the body of the sight in the dark cockpit shade and suggest the reflector glass with a clear part or a drop of gloss varnish.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
