Masking of the closed canopy of the B5N2 Kate in 1:32 scale for the outer as well as the inner side of the glazing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The difference from sets that deal only with the outside is in the name: this one is meant for both sides of the glazing. The frames therefore get color from the inner side as well, which changes a great deal on a long three-seat greenhouse. Looking down from above, the inner side of the frame looks back at the viewer through the glass, and raw clear plastic on it gives the shortcut away at once.
A real aircraft has the cockpit frame painted on both sides, with the inside carrying the interior shade and the outside the camouflage. A model with the frames sprayed only from outside looks from inside like glass with a colored strip stuck over it. In a large scale, where you really can look into the cockpit, it is one of the first details an experienced eye notices.
The B5N2 carried a crew of three under glazing that stretched across a large part of the fuselage spine. The aircraft attacked with a torpedo as well as with bombs in level flight and in the first months of the war it was among the most successful machines of its kind. It is precisely the extent of the glazing that makes building it in a large scale a job where masking pays off more than on a single-seat fighter.
First spray the inner side with the interior shade and let it cure. Then mask the outer side and move on to the camouflage color. Glue the glazing in right at the very end, ideally with a cement meant for clear parts, so that the surface does not cloud.
A model of the B5N2 is sold separately.
