Omask 1:32 Bf 109 Slovakia - a masking set

A set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 in 1:32 scale, tied to Slovak markings of the period of the Second World War. It is not a kit and it is not decals — the masks serve to let the markings and the areas be sprayed with paint directly on the model.

Why spray instead of using decals

Sprayed markings have no carrier film, so no glossy outline appears on the model and there is no silvering in the places where a decal does not settle. On top of that the paint behaves the same way as the surrounding area — it can be weathered, sanded and shaded in the same way. In 1:32 scale a model is big enough for every edge of a decal to be visible, so masking pays off most of all here.

Procedure and tips

• Degrease the surface before applying and let the base color cure completely.
• Lift the mask off the backing with pointed tweezers or the tip of a scalpel, lay it on and press the edges down carefully.
• Spray several very thin coats — paint creeps under a thick coat.
• Take the mask off shortly after the paint has set, not after it has cured completely, otherwise the edge tears.
• Remove the glue residue left by the mask with a soft cloth, not with a solvent.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build the Bf 109 in Slovak service and want clean sprayed markings with no decal film. We recommend verifying before you buy that the set matches your kit — the masks are cut to the shape of a particular molding and need not fit exactly on another model.

The set contains masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
