Shapes for masking the angular cockpit of the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3 in 1:32 scale. They are cut for the Trumpeter kit and allow for the frames to be painted from the outer as well as the inner side.
Responsibility details are not available.
The E-3 sub-version received a cannon in the bore of the propeller shaft, but it proved unreliable and the armament therefore moved into the wings. The Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine with direct fuel injection made something possible that carburetted Merlins could not do: pushing sharply into negative g without the engine cutting out. The cockpit still had no rounded superstructure then; it consisted of flat panes in heavy frames and an armored front windscreen. It is precisely this angular shape that makes Emil a rewarding object for masking. Compared with the later sub-versions it also has a shorter nose and a smaller vertical tail, so it can be told from them even at a distance.
When the film is off, a matte layer of adhesive tends to be left on the clear part. Do not reach for acetone or for high-concentration alcohol, as clear plastic turns white after them and the damage is irreversible. Lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and a soft cloth will do, or an ordinary pencil eraser with which the residue is gently rubbed away. At the end the glass is dried and can be covered with a piece of paper tape before further work, so that dust does not settle on it.
The set serves as an accessory; the model of the aircraft is obtained separately.
