Cut masking shapes for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 in 1:32 size. They handle the glazing from the outside and the inside plus two national insignia.
Responsibility details are not available.
On the real aircraft the frame of the glazing does not have one color. On the outside the camouflage of the decking and the sides continues, on the inside the lighter shade of the cockpit takes over, and the boundary between them does not lie just anywhere. It falls on the edge of the profile, that is on the narrow face you see when you look at the cockpit from the side and slightly from behind. A model on which this boundary sits right looks like a metal structure with glazing. A model whose frame carries a single color gives itself away in exactly this spot.
From this follows something that tends to come as a surprise: the inner shape cannot be a mirror image of the outer one. It has to be slightly different, because the two sides of the frame are not equally wide and the glass has thickness. The set allows for that and carries separate pieces for each surface. Anyone who wanted to use one shape twice would get a rim of paint across the glass on one side and an unpainted strip on the other.
Two canopy masks, that is outer and inner, and two national insignia motifs for spraying.
Before you switch on the airbrush, hold the masked part up to a window and look through it. The light gives away every place where a shape did not seat or where a gap was left between pieces. It can be put right by shifting the shape, whereas after spraying only by sanding the whole area of the glass back.
If you build the model with the cockpit closed and are not planning a display case at eye level, the inner shapes can be left out. The difference will be apparent only when viewed from close up and from behind.
