A set of self-adhesive templates with which you spray the American national insignia onto a model of the Curtiss P-40N Warhawk fighter in 1:32 scale. The markings appear in paint rather than by applying a decal, so they have no carrier film, do not silver and have the same sheen as the surrounding camouflage. In a large scale that difference is especially easy to see. The model and the paints are not included in the package. The set is intended for Trumpeter kits.
The Curtiss P-40 was among the most widespread American fighters of the first half of the Second World War. The P-40N version was the most numerously built variant of the whole family; its designers reduced its weight, revised the rear of the canopy for a better view to the rear and improved performance at higher altitude. The machines served with American and Allied units in a number of theaters. American national insignia went through several changes of shape and color during the war, so it is a good idea to relate the form of the marking to the period the model represents.
Apply over a smooth, perfectly dry and preferably clear-coated surface. Transfer the template with tweezers, press it down with a soft stick and press the edges in thoroughly. Spray perpendicularly and in several thin coats; a heavy coat creates a noticeable step at the edge. With multi-color markings, start with the lightest shade. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has flashed off, pulling it at a shallow angle over the edge.
