A photo-etched detail set Prince of Wales — cranes and railings in 1:350 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is not a model, but a set of fine brass parts focused on the deck cranes and the railings of the British battleship HMS Prince of Wales. The set is designed for the kit from Tamiya in the same scale.
HMS Prince of Wales was a British battleship of the King George V class of the Second World War, sunk by Japanese aircraft in December 1941. The set replaces the coarse plastic railings with railings of a true scale thinness and adds fine, three-dimensional deck cranes, which never look subtle enough in plastic.
Separate the parts carefully from the fret with a sharp knife or photo-etch shears, make the bends according to the instructions (ideally on a photo-etch bender) and glue them with cyanoacrylate — cement for plastic does not hold on metal. With the long railings, patience and gluing in shorter sections pay off. Fold the crane jibs exactly according to the instructions, so that they keep their three-dimensional shape. We recommend spraying the unpainted parts with a primer and a paint in the shade of the ship before fitting.
The photo-etched set is an accessory, not a model. The ship kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
