A self-adhesive masking set in 1:32 scale for a plastic model of the Dornier Do 335 aircraft of the A series. It is neither a kit nor decals: it is an aid to painting the glazing. The masks have the shape of the framing of the clear parts, they are stuck on, sprayed over together with the surrounding area and removed once dry. The double-sided form covers the outer as well as the inner side of the glazing, so it is also possible to paint the frames visible from the interior, a detail that shows clearly in a large scale.
The Do 335 Pfeil was a German aircraft with a tandem arrangement of its powerplant, where the front engine drove a tractor propeller and the rear one a pusher propeller behind the cruciform tail. The aim of the design was to combine the power of two engines with the aerodynamic cleanliness of a single-engine airframe. The A series was the basic single-seat version; the program did not reach wider series production before the end of the war. The cockpit glazing is divided into several framed panes and in 1:32 scale the cockpit is clearly visible.
Wash the clear part in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry. With a double-sided set it is practical to start with the inner side: stick the masks on, spray the interior shade, let it dry and only then move on to the outer side with the covering color. Lift the masks out with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers and press them down with a wooden stick all around. Where the outline needs finishing off, draw the cut lightly with a new blade. Spray in thin coats with a pause: one heavy coat creeps under the edge and the edge blurs. Remove the masks shortly after the paint is dry, pulling at an angle along the surface.
The package contains only the masking set. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
