A set of self-adhesive masks for painting the glazed parts of a model of the twin-engine Douglas A-26B Invader attack aircraft in 1:32 scale. According to the name it contains masks for two glazed areas, separately for the outer and separately for the inner side, and with them three masks for the national insignia. It is neither a kit nor a part of one but an accessory that markedly speeds up and sharpens the painting of the framing. The maker of the set is Montex.
The Douglas A-26 Invader was an American twin-engine attack aircraft from the end of the Second World War. The A-26B version differed from the later variant with the glazed nose in having a solid unglazed nose with gun armament. The aircraft had a high speed for its category and, thanks to its robust design, stayed in service long after the end of the war. The glazed areas of the pilot's cockpit have fairly dense framing, so a model without masks means a lot of patient work with a brush.
Degrease the glazing first and let it dry thoroughly. Lift the mask out of the sheet with tweezers or a sharp point, seat it dry and then press the edges down with a soft tool, so that no bubble is left anywhere. It is a good idea to go over the edges of the mask with a thin coat of clear or of the base color, which seals any gap. Spray in thin coats and take the masks off while the paint is not yet fully cured. Use the inner masks before you glue the glazing into the fuselage. Apply the masks for the national insignia only onto a finished base and spray over them carefully from the center toward the edges.
This is an accessory for painting, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package. Before buying, check that the set matches the kit you are building.
