A set of stencils for spraying the national insignia and markings on the F-4C/D Phantom II in 1:32 scale replaces decals with sprayed paint.
Responsibility details are not available.
Stencils for spraying the national markings and the additional lettering on a large model of the American-built Phantom. Sprayed insignia lie directly in the paint of the surface, so they have neither the glossy edge nor the step that gives away the carrier film of a decal. On the uneven area above the wing or across riveted seams that shows at first glance.
The F-4C and F-4D Phantoms served with squadrons of the tactical air force from the mid-1960s. At first they carried an aluminum gloss finish with large stars in bars; later a three-color camouflage appeared with markedly smaller and more discreet markings, a unit code on the vertical tail and command stripes. It was with these machines that most of the air victories of the US Air Force over North Vietnamese fighters were won, and with them the reputation of both versions.
The base has to be perfectly smooth and set, otherwise the paint will creep under. Cover in stages, coat by coat, and spray light shades over a white base, so that a star or a bar does not turn gray from the camouflage underneath. Always leave a moment between the individual colors and press the edges of the pieces down with a toothpick.
