1:32 Felixstowe F.2A N4283 is an AIMS decal set devoted to a single particular flying boat of the Royal Naval Air Service of 1918.
Responsibility details are not available.
Decals in the large 1:32 scale for a single machine. The set is specific: instead of a general offering of markings it gives the modeler the reference for one documented aircraft, including the fuselage number and the distinguishing elements it carried.
The Felixstowe F.2A came about by joining the boat hull of the designer Porte with wings of American design and a pair of Rolls-Royce Eagle engines. It flew far out over the sea, searched for submarines and airships and not infrequently got into a fight with German floatplane fighters. The machine with the number N4283 was built by the Saunders firm and in the spring of 1918 operated from Great Yarmouth; among its crews the names Livock and Leckie appear. The crews spent long hours over the water without the aids we know today and found their way mainly by compass and an estimate of wind drift.
The surfaces of a flying boat are enormous and the fabric covering is visible, so lay the decals on a perfectly smooth gloss and push the air out with a soft cloth from the center outward. The striking patrol patterns are usually sprayed through masks, with decals adding mainly the numbers and the insignia. A model of this size also stands handling badly, so prepare a stand or a soft bed in advance.
The package is made up of decals; the airframe of the aircraft is bought separately.
