Masks for the canopy and national insignia of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-5 in 1:32 scale. According to the manufacturer it carries glazing masking from two faces and three insignia masks.
Responsibility details are not available.
On the Fw 190A-5 the designers moved the engine mount fifteen centimeters forward. The reason was not performance but balance and the temperature conditions at the rear of the engine bay. The lengthening became the basis of every later version and shows in profile in the greater distance between the propeller and the cockpit. The A-5 also served as a universal platform for both fighter and bomber equipment sets fitted directly at the units.
Die-cut masks are accurate enough that the error moves elsewhere, namely into the application of the paint. You need an airbrush you can turn down to low pressure and paint thinned so that it goes on in two thin coats. A brush has no place here: a heavy load pushes pigment under the edge of the paper and a straight frame turns into a wavy line. Beyond that, have fine-tipped tweezers and a hardwood point ready for pressing the edges down.
Once you lift a mask you will not use it again. Allow for that when planning: if you want to build two machines of this version, you need two boxes.
The canopy frames had a different shade inside from outside and with the cockpit open that shows on the finished model. The inner part of the set deals with this detail, except that it is laid onto the loose molding. Once the glazing is glued into the fuselage, there is no room left for tweezers.
Allow roughly half an hour for laying all the pieces and another half hour for checking and pressing the edges down. The rest of the time goes on thinning the paint and on waiting between coats.
