1:32 Gloster Gladiator Mk.II in Foreign Service is an AIMS decal set with four sets of markings for biplanes that served outside the ranks of the Royal Air Force.
Responsibility details are not available.
This sheet of waterslide decals in 1:32 starts from the fact that the Gladiator was by no means only British. It offers four sets of markings for machines operated by foreign users, that is a form not usually found in the box of a production kit.
Gloster sold Gladiators to a number of countries in northern and southern Europe, to China and to the Middle East. Smaller air forces saw in them an accessible, more modern fighter with an enclosed cockpit and four machine guns. In 1940 it thus came about that machines of the same type faced each other in European skies in different national insignia. The Mk.II rendition differed from the first series above all in its engine and in a metal propeller instead of a wooden one. A number of the exported examples went into action in the very first months of the war, and their histories are among the most interesting chapters in the history of the type.
Foreign finishes differ from the British ones even where one would not expect it, that is in the shades of the landing gear fairings, in the numbering and in the stripes on the tail surfaces. Keep to the guide with the sheet and mix the colors in advance so that they match the markings on the decal. Period photographs from these air forces are few, so take the enclosed reference as the main guide.
The goods are a decal sheet, not a finished or part-built model.
