The Hispano HA-1112 M1L conversion set in 1:32 scale from SBS Model - a resin conversion of a Bf 109 kit into the Spanish Buchón with a Merlin engine. For experienced modelers.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin conversion set from the Hungarian maker SBS Model for converting a large Messerschmitt Bf 109 kit in 1:32 scale into the Spanish Hispano HA-1112 M1L, known by the nickname Buchón. It is not a complete kit - the set deals above all with the entirely different shaping of the nose with its Merlin engine, and with the other areas in which the Spanish machine differs from its German original. The conversion is intended for experienced modelers.
After the Second World War Spain continued licensed production of the Bf 109 airframe. The HA-1112 M1L version from Hispano Aviación was given a British Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, whose lower carburetor cowling gave the machine its characteristic bearded nose and its nickname Buchón, the pouter pigeon. The machines served with the Spanish Air Force long after the war and later became famous as film stand-ins for the Bf 109 in war epics.
First wash the resin parts to remove any mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand them down with respiratory protection. Glue the parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate), and reinforce and fill the joints with the plastic. Use a quality primer before painting - it will even out the surface of the plastic and the resin.
This is an accessory conversion set - the basic Bf 109 kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
