Masking stencils for the canopy and the wheels of the Horten Ho 229 in 1:32 scale. The frames of the glazing and the wheel hubs thus get a sharp edge without a hand-held brush.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Horten Ho 229 is among the best known German aircraft from the end of the Second World War. It is a flying wing with no fuselage and no tail surfaces, powered by jet engines hidden inside the wing. It never reached production and stopped at a few prototypes. It is precisely the clean surface of the wing with no distracting shapes that makes it a rewarding model: the surface has nowhere to hide an inaccuracy, so what shows most on a finished example is the quality of the sprayed edges.
The stencils are cut for the two places on the model that are hardest to do with a brush. The first are the frames of the canopy, the second the wheels, where the hub has to be separated from the tire.
First wash the glazing and let it dry completely, so that no greasy fingerprint is left on it. Put the stencils on before spraying and press the edges down carefully; on a bulged canopy work from the center toward the edges. Apply the paint in several thin coats, as a heavy coat bleeds under the edge and the transition smears. It is good to spray the frames first in the interior shade and only then with the exterior masking, so that it does not show through from inside. Take the stencil off as soon as the paint has set. Details on fixing the stencils are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
For modelers who are building the Horten Ho 229 in 1:32 scale and want the glazing and the wheels sprayed cleanly. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
